| Anthropology is a Charlie Parker bebop classic that Faroek recently recorded for his Jazz Shake It Inc. project. Here is the Hyves link to the site. | Anthropology Musicians |
| Zeedijk Serenade is a song that I wrote sometime in 2004, while I was playing at the Casablanca in the centre of Amsterdam. I played there for two years off and on with, well different versions of the same group basically. The Casablanca is the Netherland's oldest still running jazz club, and it is located on the infamous Zeedijk, where the sailers would come in to get a quick fill of . . . whatever. To the Dutch the name is synonymous with drugs and junkies from in the eighties when it was notorious. Well, I don't know that history and to me it is the lively strip of Amsterdam that:
- is close to the prostitutes - contains Chinatown - is where Chet Baker "fell" out of a window and died - is the street with the oldest still standing Amsterdam dwelling - is where I jokingly pointed out a guy that looked like Brian Mays of Queen, and it was him!!! - And a whole lot of other things. . . . I used to love to ride my bike down there evenings to play. On the way I'd talk to Chet about music as I'd pep myself up for the gig. This song is a tribute to that lively spirit and time. |

| Angel Eyes is an old Matt Dennis & Earl Brent ballad. Ninah didn't know that she'd be singing for this session. She just happened to be there, so we used her. I think that she did a great job. This is perhaps the first recording session that I've done in Amsterdam. So it's from way back in 2002 or so. | Angel Eyes Musicians |
| All the Things You Are is another jazz standard. This one is recorded at my house as we rehearsed for a transient club gig. I actually like the sound of our tinkly cheap little 'Tezcatlipotl' piano. | All the Things You Are Musicians |
| Triste is a Portuguese standard that Ninah sings. This one isn't even in her key since as I said, she didn't know that she would be singing for this session. But nevertheless it makes for a fine impromptu version. | Triste Musicians |
| Peace A Horace Silver number that my trumper player collegue loves to play. | Peace Musicians |
